Cecil! Gone but not Forgotten

Cecil Finally has a Voice via USA Psychic, Karen Anderson. After all the furore around Cecil’s death, a self-proclaimed Animal Psychic from the USA says she has made contact with Cecil in the afterlife. It turns out he is fine, remarkably erudite, forgiving and has a message for us all.

First the back story in case you’ve been living in a cave the last week or so. The world (mainly through social media) was shaken to its core when a Zimbabwean lion, Cecil was killed by an American hunter on the 1 July 2015. The news broke some weeks later and until then, most of the world had never heard of Cecil the lion or even of Cecil John Rhodes after whom the Lion, and the original name of the country where he was killed, was named. The tragedy was enhanced by the fact that Cecil was a collared lion being tracked by Oxford University students for research since 2008. It is alleged that the lion was lured from the safety of Hwange National Park in order to be killed. The kill shot was made some 40 hours after the hunter had first shot Cecil with an arrow. The incident was immediately exploited by celebrities, fund raisers, lobbyists and politicians all giving their opinions and trying to outdo each other as to who is most outraged. The Zimbabwean government in the form of acting information minister remarked “What Lion?” when asked by press to comment on one of the highest trending subjects in the world. It turns out that hardly any Zimbabweans including those in power even knew that they were the caretakers of the world’s most ‘famous’ lion partly I suspect that Cecil is just one of hundreds of lions that have suffered the same fate in the last few years. Some days later with the world stewing about a seemly uncaring culture, the Zimbabwean government have requested extradition of the Minnesota dentist, Dr Palmer to face charges of poaching. Palmer, currently very much trying his best to remain out of the public spotlight, claims he paid for the hunt and his perception was that it was legal. Other equally venomous commentators have jumped on the Cecil debate showing equal indignation that other important world affairs and tragedies do not garner similar outrage. In all this explosion of opinion, news, debate and conjecture one American psychic, Karen Anderson has gone straight to the source, Cecil himself. Karen claims to have contacted Cecil using her psychic abilities to tell Cecil how loved he was. Cecil then came through with his own message. He told Karen referring to her as his child; “Let not the actions of these few men defeat us or allow darkness to enter our hearts. If we do then we become one of them. Raise your vibration and allow this energy to move us forward. What happened does not need to be discussed as it is what it is. Take heart my child, I am finer than ever, grander than before as no one can take our purity, our truth or our soul. Ever. I am here. Be strong and speak for all the others who suffer needlessly to satisfy human greed. Bring Light and Love and we will rise above this." Whether this message is actually from Cecil or just from Karen’s mind, it has turned her into an instant psychic celebrity within hours of her posting news of her successful contact on her Facebook page. Personally I tend to turn to a conversation between Harry Houdini and renowned Boston psychic Marjory Crandon. Harry had vowed to expose psychics for the rest of his life to which Marjory replied, “I am not concerned about your life Mr Houdini. Once you are dead I can make you say anything I want.” It is not clear if any of the thousands of humans that have been killed by lions in the last few decades including American 29 year old wildlife protection volunteer Katherine Chappell killed just a few weeks ago when visiting South Africa, have left any messages for the lions nor if any of the 1 000 large African animals including 512 Big Five creatures killed by President Teddy Roosevelt and his hunting party during his visit to Africa have contacted Karen with any messages from the great beyond.

Teddy Roosevelt on a hunt to Africa in 1908 killed over 1000 large African Mammals.
